You'd be surprised how many Japanese cars from the 60s/70s are trying their hardest to look American.

Is because the game's publisher Namco Bandai, majority of the Namco racing games there are full of japanese cars and by error by the publishers receives Nakamura as the name of an American Muscle car.

I doubt Namco had anything to do with the name. This game was developed in Finland by Bugbear and never released in Japan.

The car has a Mazda Savanna/Grand Familia front end. It's supposed to be Japanese, it just looks more like a Mustang.
