| IMCDb is as likely to be correct as IGCD is... According to wikipedia, the car was originally unveiled in the UK under the Ford name. It was built upon the Mondeo chassis to bring a Capri-like car back to the brand and as a larger alternative to the Puma. | Not false... the car originated as the European Ford model, which was then built and sold in the US under Mercury. We do the same thing with Vauxhall/Opel models, even though the Astra is assembled in the UK. | |
