Liftback, hatchback, coupe... I'm starting to get a headache just thinking about it... -- Last edit: 2011-03-28 15:55:30
Now we're talking! Well, the CR-X which it's based off, I consider a coupé, since it's basically a shortened Civic with a bit more power under the hood, however, this one ... I'd call it coupé too. To be honest, if I were to call it a hatchback, I'd pronounce it hunchback intentionally I'm not really a fan of retro "wannabe" cars.
Maybe we should call it a "liftback"? BTW SizSkiizd, since I had a similar discussion about the Honda CR-Z recently, I'd be interested to know do you consider the CR-Z a coupe or a hatchback? ![]()
| I really don't see why this should even really be counted as an exception. As I've understood, we all go for the rear part when classifying vehicles, and this one has a hatch and even four doors, I guess that quite clearly makes it a hatchback. Some manufacturers tend to style sedans and hatchbacks more coupe-wise in order to achieve more sales, but they sure don't fool me. This is a car database, we follow our own system, not Porsche's or anyone else's. Maybe it would be better to include a new class just for newer oddities like this one and the BMW 5 GT, for example ... no, I think it's good enough the way it is, really. | |
| I agree with dragonboy it's sedan. On Panamera presentation Porsche say that this car is in sedan class. And like MG B GT it has hatchback style opening trunk, but by the body style it's coupe. It's same for Panamera but to it's size and big* trunk it's sedan. *i mean it's going long back from rear window like sedan and it isn't going so short from rear window like coupes, hatchbacks and MG B GT. | |
| It's a sedan, it may have a hatch like boot but this aint no hatchback. It's like the mazda 6, that can have hatch opening but its a sedan, a mercedes c coupe/clc have a hatch opening but its a coupe. This is a SEDAN, with a coupe like profile, and a hatch boot. | |
| BUMP - hatchback. Same goes for the other Panameras. | |
| Shooting brake is a different thing, I also think it's an hatchback | |
| Shooting Brake? | |
| Definitely a hatchback. Just don't let their marketing people hear that. | |
| SizSkiizd wrote Seeing that it's still listed as a sedan... what do others think? I consider it a hatchback. | |

| It doesn't seem like you were convinced, but check this out: www.rsportscars.com/porsche/2010-porsche-panamera-gran-turismo-turbo/pictures/12025 imcdb.org/search.php?resultsStyle=asList&sortBy=0&make=&model=panamera | |
| This is not a sedan, it's a hatchback. | |
| like ShantJ said, its a "turbo", please change that. | |
| I've never had anything against it, surprisingly. | |
