The sound is still wrong, the boxer rumble went away in 1997, when Subaru abandoned the unequal exhaust headers that they had used on their 4 door 555 GC8 group a cars.
The 1997-2008 Wrc Imprezas used equal length exhaust headers which changed the sound to a more flat sounding noise.
Also these wheels were rarely used after 1998 either.
