It's strange this AE86 can only be playable once you win the 1995 World Rally Championship.

1995 is also the year when the manga "Initial-D" started to be released.

Probably a kind of tribute from game developers ?

It actually is a trueno the popups are just off.
Look at this pic and compare the side markers/ headlights + the overall far more boxy look of the front to the game car. You can tell the game car's front is more sloped like a trueno.
