Yes, but the Model S has always been classified as a sedan, and has a conventional trunk.

Well that's not exactly correct. The Tesla Model S is a liftback.

Liftbacks are in a weird middle-ground between hatchbacks & sedans/coupes where they are essentially those body styles but with a hatchback-style trunk. Frankly I've always hated the way liftbacks are always considered hatchbacks on here (since true hatchbacks have their own distinct shape), but that's the way it is for now.

Cadillac DeVille

Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed (2022)
Like the sedan version, this is a mix of Impala, Cadillac & Fairlane. Although the sedan's body is clearly based on the Cadillac DeVille, there was no wagon based on that platform, however both the Fairlane & Impala were available as wagons. Of the two, it's probably closer to the Fairlane, but should it be listed as a Cadillac anyway for consistency with the sedan?

No single element of this car resembles an AMC Rebel - how did this get through?

It has the body of a late 60's Cadillac DeVille with the front of an Impala and the rear of a Fairlane

Those orange lights on the roof are called trafficators and they're basically an early type of indicator/blinker that would fold down when activated. So to have them light up like the taxi sign is a bit of an error on the part of the devs.

Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed (2022)
Seems similar to the Toyota Corona Mark II GSS, both with the original from 1968-72 (front) & the second gen from 1972-76 (rear)

EDIT: An important note to whoever edited this: Mark II is actually part of the model name & the 1969 model is from the 1st generation

I found a comment on IMCDB that explains why it's American:

But that comment has fundamentally misunderstood what the origin is supposed to represent. As far as I'm aware, it's not usually the location of the original concept's design studio.

The 1994 Volkswagen Concept One was designed at VW's Simi Valley design studio in California. However, the production version of the New Beetle was designed by Peter Schreyer in 1997 at VW's HQ in Wolfsburg, Germany. This is also where production started before moving to Mexico in 1999.

Unlike those Brazilian and Chinese VW's, the New Beetle is not exclusive to the American market. In fact, certain key models such as the New Beetle RSi were never available in America.

Then maybe it's time for things to change, because if there isn't a better reason for the US origin, the VW New Beetle should be listed as German from now on.

I looked into it and asked around. To my understanding the reason the beetle is listed as american was because it was designed by an american.

While that may be true, it's not uncommon in the car industry to utilise designers or design studios from another country. A good example is the Mazda MX-5 Miata, which was also designed by an American studio, but they are (rightly) listed as Japanese.

They were both sold and built in Germany, which makes me wonder why New Beetles are listed as American on IGCD? I'm not an expert on the Beetle, but I can't seem to find any legitimate claim to support a US origin for these?
