fun fact: only the R33 skylines are legal in the US, unless it is 25+ years old

During the late 90s and early 2000s, Motorex imported, legalized and sold 120 Skylines into the USA, 16 of them were R34 Skyline, others were R32s and R33s

This proves my point that this is not a Mega Cruiser. Only the front is based on one and I think Luxoflux based it on a H1.

More specifically, this IS a Hummer H1 wagon. Why?
It's sold here unlike the Mega Cruiser (Japan-only for the latter)
It's somewhat common, unlike the limited-production MC.
And 3, H1 is only produced in LHD whilst the MegaCruiser is RHD.

It's clearly meant to be a Hummer H1.

This was published by Activision in 2005. The rules were probably different back then, and Activision definitely had the money to contest that kind of requirements.

Actually exist others games do the same, GTA 5 with various cars similar to real ones.

Yea, but unfortunately Activision didn't have the money to release a functional game like this one. They leadfooted Luxoflux to rush the game just to release it prior to Christmas 2005.

When the actual game was on shelves, critics loved the game but actual players got a buggy release what was never meant to be fixed. Remember this was the mid-2000s where patches and updates were in their infancy (at least in consoles iirc), or not at all.

Come to think of it I still own the PS2 version and it had its own flaws. Like some cars not spawning in traffic due to that version's hardware limits.

I'll hand it to Luxoflux for making a really realistic Manhattan based on the one where the new World Trade tower was under construction. And the variety of vehicles. And its sheer environmental destruction of which I still get a kick out of.

Point is, it's just a game with good potential, just not what Activision had endeared. The bugs and issues that plagued this game has ruined this franchise, which is exactly why it lived on as Sleeping Dogs (and even then whatever future that game had was lost).

That its strange, Horizon Chase used the same elements to create the cars and years later made a facelift to avoid copyright problems, but with some games like Truecrime, don't had problem to use real cars and change a bit the design.

However it's a good game for patrolling and acting as a police officer in a good recreation of South Manhattan. Like a sequel of "World's Scariests Chases", until GTA IV New York's vigilante missions arrived.

For what it's worth, it's a great game on paper..... Until you realize it's a broken minefield of glitches and myriad issues. Why? Because the game was rushed prior to Christmas 2005, and Activision didn't give Luxoflux any time to work on polishing the game. They aren't optimized as well, sadly.

It's like as if half of the game budget went to graphics and the whole destructibility.

For example, the PS2 version isn't bad by all means and it occasionally crashes. Xbox version is fine but is nigh impossible to complete due to a broken action in a late mission, PC, while better, is rough.

FYI, the game's a recreation of the entirety of Manhattan, not just South Manhattan, aka the Financial District.
