We don't really take that into account. I believe the other user meant like do you need to unlock the Dodo, since I think in some of the other GTA games certain vehicles won't actually spawn until you beat a specific mission and since you unlock shoreshide after a mission, that's what I think the intention was.

DMA Design intentionally made it that way, because of two reasons: 1. This game was released a month after the terrorist attacks and the devs had to rush through the last-minute changes, and sadly, flyable aircraft had to be nerfed to hell. 2. There were files mentioning a cut character, a terrorist by the name of Darkel, and one of his supposed missions is to fly into the Love Building as an act of retaliation.

Personally the front end looks more like a Montero Sport. And the rear, Sure It can be slightly freelander like, it could also be like a Discovery, or a Montero, or a Land Cruiser. I always thought it looked liked the V70 Montero. Which isn't too far-fetched, considering that model actually around the late 90's.
