I vaguely remember reading somewhere online that Unknown was originally going to be the Devil Z from Wangan Midnight, but they couldn't get the rights to the character Akio, so they made him a mysterious driver instead. I'm probably remembering that wrong though, it was a long time ago.

The TXR series has never exactly been a mainstream one, as far as I know.

"Char" is famous as the pilot of the red-only machine. The driver of this car also uses a rival dedicated red model as a dedicated machine.
