Names in the files or in beta content doesn't count.
And yeah there were no name's displayed when you select cars for Take a Ride mode, so how did that person found the names?

TrueCrime US (99)Yep. And btw, it was supposed to compete with San Andreas, also released that year. There's also a video about it in 2016.
About it, Atari (more specifically, Infogrames Atari) paid British publisher Future to have review copies of the game, only two months before the game was even out, to two magazine publications. Seriously? Nowadays game devs usually give out review copies a week or two before release.

I bought it for Xbox a long time ago, and honestly I was SO disappointed. The Miami part is alright, but it feels like a much crappier version of Vice City, which was infinitely better than this drivel. I also admit it had a bunch of celebrity voice actors, i.e. Michael Madsen as the protagonist, John Tanner, but it failed tremendously, unlike the GTA III era did. Nice and Istanbul are good for the most part, but they're wasted because they're involved in story missions. You can free roam, but that's Take a Ride, accessed from the main menu. And despite what the cover is showing, you cannot drive and shoot. Shame.

Whatever the case may be, Driv3r has left a nasty legacy and destroyed Reflections Interactive's reputation.
And ironically, I actually liked it's in-name only sequel, Parallel Lines. It was much more polished, has a fairly decent story, and heavily improved gunplay, plus the 2006 era was my fave era, bar none.

By the way, welcome to 2019. Konkordski, I like your avatar. Where's it from?

i know it was released quickly to compete with gta 3, but wasn't driv3rgate caused because atari payed/convinced gaming magazines to give driv3r a good score to get some hype before its release, but once the game hit the shelves, players found out how awfully buggy and terrible the game was?

Why are some vehicles getting a surname all of a sudden? Who is doing that? If they're in the game files, I might believe you, but they [the vehicle names] can't be found ingame.

TrueCrime US (99)@Attacker1997: Most of the vehicles in the game don't have surnames. They initially had names on the Prima Guide (RIP), but were dropped by the time the game was out the door too early.

As a matter of fact, this is one of the reasons why this game was rushed. Driv3r had a four-year development cycle, and Reflections was hoping this would be their big hit, after the disappointing Driver 2: The Wheelman is Back. They certainly did, but Atari, SA, in response to the surge of Grand Theft Auto games done by Rockstar Games, forced Reflections to rush through the game just to hit their June 2004 deadline. This meant that they had to ignore many technical problems and faults and ignored bugs and glitches. Once it hit shelves on said date, it's shown its true colors as an obvious beta. Clipping, constant glitching and a narcissistic habit of the game crashing. The list goes on and on. And game journalists were not impressed with the game's faults, as it received mixed to negative reception across the board. This also led to corruption in gaming journalism, and thus coined in the name "Driv3rgate."

I say this, since I did not find any pictures of the 604 taxi, but if of other Peugeots, then it is a 604, but they were inspired by the Taxi that the Tagora has.
It could also be that at the time they used any car that is resistant as a taxi, like many other Peugeots, nothing more that would have to be fixed in Films between 1978 and 1986 in France, especially in the streets of Nice.

Taxi Parisien says, it used to be a taxi in France at some point in the late 70's, only the front lenses were changed because of the real brands in the vehicles of the game, as happened with the Ford Mustang of Miami, other is equal to the car of the photo, even the wheels of the car are the same as those of the game.
It is not a Renault 9 or Allianz, it is not a Renault brand, it is Talbot, because, they are small cars, the Tagora is a longer and bigger car like in the game.

I have a theory why this particular truck is there: in the 8th mission in Miami, you can see one truck exactly like the one in Nice in the background, probably related to the trade, even though you only see it in the ingame cutscenes where cops show up in the mall to never be seen again afterwards (a metal gate shuts down right after you get out of the parking so you can't reach the truck). I think this truck's only purpose is to be the 3D model for that exact truck in the cutscenes even if it has less than 3 second visible on screen. 2017-10-22 13:01

Well hey, would you look at that.

A while back I posted a video by Larry Bundy Jr. going on about Gaming Scandals that were forgotten, and Driv3r with the "DriverGate" was included, where Larry went onto information about the shameful act that Atari had done to rush the game's release date and get magazines to review the game a couple of months in advance.. which didn't sit well with people.

He has since now given the scandal its own dedicated video, going more in depth about the scandal including information not known at the time of the original video release. It's worth a watch.
