![]() ![]() 2023-03-30 17:50 | And yet this is not Caprice at all. It's either a Pontiac G8 or a Chevrolet SS. Although production of the SS began in July 2013, it was unveiled during Speedweeks in Daytona Beach, Florida, in February 2013. |
![]() ![]() 2022-03-25 02:46 | Makes more sense for it to be a '09 G8 GXP giving the games California setting. |
![]() ![]() 2021-03-25 03:31 | It's worth mentioning that all of these cars (G8, Caprice, SS, Lumina, Commodore, etc.) are based on the same platform and share a lot of visual cues. Given the timeline of this page, we can rule out any cars based on the VF Commodore or WN Caprice as they were not available at the time, so the Chevrolet SS is impossible. One of the easy identifiers between the Caprice and Commodore is the shape of the rear window pillar. The Fugitive matches the Commodore, ruling out the Caprice entirely. This leaves us with cars based on the VE Commodore. While they share many visual cues, there are 3 distinct designs - Holden Commodore/Chevrolet Lumina, HSV E-Series/Vauxhall VXR8 and Pontiac G8. The Fugitive takes something from each of these - the grille is similar to Holden/Chevrolet, the taillights are similar to HSV/Vauxhall, the front bumper is similar to the Pontiac G8 GXP and the rest is shared across the range. Given the US setting the Pontiac G8 GXP makes the most sense, but the Commodore would also be acceptable. -- Last edit: 2021-03-25 03:33:01 |

You mean this one, right? www.netcarshow.com/chevrolet/2008-lumina_ss/ It's also a rebadged Holden Commodore, so essentially it's the same car as the Pontiac G8. Also the Lumina SS was sold only in the Middle East and South Africa. I find it unlikely that they would put a car in the game that's sold only in a specific part of the world, while said car is actually sold in the USA - badged as the Pontiac G8. |

![]() ![]() 2021-03-17 19:57 | I don't think this car is a Chevy Caprice. Some people suggested the Chevrolet SS, and initially I wanted to agree with them, but then I noticed a problem: The SS is a rebadged Holden Commodore (VF). According to Wikipedia, it's production was started in July 2013 - but the Fugitive was first seen in Franklin's trailer, which was released on the April 30th of 2013. So, then what car is it based on? I believe it's a Pontiac G8, more specifically the GXP by the front bumper: i.redd.it/xaiqq6230s741.jpg It's not completely identical, but it's shape much closer to the G8 than the Caprice. For example, the midsection of the car is completely different from the Caprice (look at the picture krq9 posted earlier), but it matches the G8 quite closely. Some parts were definitely modeled after the G8 GXP, such as the front bumper, the mirrors or the wheels. The only similarity I see to the Caprice is the metal bar on the rear and the position of the rear license plate. Also, the Fugitive's description mentions that it's used by the police - it seems there were plans to use the G8 as a police car, and a prototype was built for the LAPD: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Prototype_Pontiac_G8_for_LAPD.jpg newatlas.com/futuristic-cop-car/12165/ www.vwvortex.com/threads/australian-company-tailoring-pontiac-g8-to-become-next-u-s-cop-cruiser.4269607/ Maybe that's where Rockstar got the idea from, and they wanted to make a high performance police car, like the Police Stinger in TBoGT, but they scrapped the idea. -- Last edit: 2021-03-17 19:58:17 |

![]() ![]() 2018-04-12 01:14 | The Fugitive is the go-to cruiser for law enforcement and those that want to pretend they are law enforcement. The gas mileage isn't so great, but cops mostly sit with the car idling anyway. |

![]() 2013-10-03 06:34 | There's a website where it can be bought in-game, and the description mentions it being used as a police vehicle, which seems to further solidify that it's based on one of the rebadged Holdens. |
![]() 2013-09-26 12:01 | FOr those who get the caprice ppv, ss, and holden possibly confused heres the rundown. THe Caprice ppv, is effectively a rebadge holden caprice VE Chassis. THe new SS is a rebadge of the new redesigned VF Commodore. |
![]() ![]() 2013-09-25 23:10 | Caprice/PPV is also a good guess, but the midsection/greenhouse is totally different from the SS, as it's derived from the long wheelbase version of the Holden. From the front doors onwards they're different vehicles. Here's a comparison of Caprice and SS. Note the longer body and rear quarter windows. ![]() |
![]() ![]() 2013-09-24 00:59 | I think it's a Caprice PPV, although an SS would also be possible. I'm not saying it doesn't look like an Impala, but the beautiful V8 sound makes me think it's the Caprice PPV. (Haven't heard the SS yet) -- Last edit: 2013-09-24 00:59:43 |
![]() ![]() 2013-09-22 17:36 | I dunno, I'm just not seeing this in it. However, this I see. Then again, as usually with GTA, it is a collage of various cars, so no one is really wrong here ![]() |
![]() 2013-09-22 15:38 | Here's the way I see it: Front end is Caprice (PPV, US market) with Impala headlights, body is SS (related to the Caprice), rear is Impala. |
![]() ![]() 2013-09-22 09:39 | picture is bad, but i would say it confirms it as the Impala, because for me the rear looks like Impala too ![]() they should have named it Cheval Impaler ![]() |
![]() ![]() 2013-09-21 13:32 | The front looks a bit like Impala, but the majority of the car is pretty close to SS. Here's a pretty bad pic to give a clue: ![]() |
![]() 2013-09-20 18:44 | So is Declasse, and there are also Chevrolet models under the Brute (Burrito and Burrito based models, along with the Boxville and it's variants), Invetero (Coquette), Imponte (Ruiner), and Vapid (Bobcat XL and Speedo) brands as well...but Declasse and Cheval seem to be the main equivalents to Chevrolet. |
![]() 2013-09-20 18:19 | Isn't Cheval a parody of Chevrolet? |

![]() 2013-09-15 23:49 | I'll have to agree with the SS, though the front is similar to the Impala. The roofline is definitely that of the SS. |
![]() 2013-09-15 20:13 | I'm thinking it's more of an SS than an Impala, perhaps with the nose of a Caprice PPV? |
