I was impressed, they actually did a resonably accurate job of recreating Lower Manhattan. When you went up north to Harlem or Washington Hights though, it really wasn't realistic though. I felt kindof upset though when they didn't include my dad's hospital.

This is the first (and only - as far as i know) GTA-style game to feature snow as random weather :p it took the form of sleet more or less but still.. lol

GTA Liberty City Stories also had snow but it only occured during one 'car salesman' mission and only on the PSP version if i'm not mistaken

In my opinion, this game is better than GTA SA.Although GTA SA have more fun, but this game is more realistic, the cars are more modern and you can enter most of the building. Moreover, the car damage physics is much much better than GTA SA.

I have ordered this game in the mail, it should arrive this week. One question though, is there a star/wanted level type system in this game?

I know that, but you can still commit crimes (kill/hurt innocent people, steal cars, property damage, etc...) and the other police do not come after you even then?

In this game there is no wanted star system like in GTA. In this game, it have a Good and Bad cop points. For example, if you kill the innocent people, accept bribe, etc, it will accumulate bad cop points. Arresting criminal instead of killing them will get good cop points. However, if you create too many chaos, the fellow officers kill you.

There's snow in the opening cutscene... and like I said, the snow is more like sleet (no massive flakes), and it is a very rare occurence in the game itself.

On an unrelated note; I've begun to play through this game again recently, and I just noticed how ambitious it was for the time (2005) - with regards to what you could do in the game, the amount of enterable buildings (with generic interior based on type of building) and the overall graphical aspects, such as the reflections and real-time shadows as well as the huge map.

By the way, there's a truck missing from this page - it's the same Ford F-650 as the others, but it has a crane/lift on the back (a utility/maintainance truck in other words). I don't know if it would be worth listing Freddie's taxi aswell.

Added the dump truck. The bucket truck, car carrier(only spawns in a mission) and the garbage truck (NEVER saw it spawn)are missing, along with a chopper bike. Plus, 2 wrecked variants of the Charger. One is white, appears in various places, and the other is red, only appears in a mission interior.

uk.gamespot.com/news/true-crime-hong-kong-revived-as-sleeping-dogs-6349973, changed name, as mentioned before. Intialy the focus seemed to be on hand-to-hand combat but the chase at the end confirmed vehicles. I still hope it like the original game, with the open-world classic hand-to-hand combat, shooting and driving. I will cry if its not open world and has no or limited vehicles, but I doubt it. Whoever put it in hong kong is genius. Driving around new york gets kinda old, doesn't it rockstar?
EDIT: uk.gamespot.com/sleeping-dogs/images/1598203/, cars, a boat and some in-game pics!

I think it will be like True Crime Hong Kong, but with a better melee system. Hand-to-hand combat will probally be a constant throughout the story, orcan be used when doing other things like shooting or on a bike. It will be open-world and have lots of cars. It will also try to be gritty and realistic, said by Square Enix, and it has a 18 rating. More money might be put into the game because of the real-life trailer, it is alot more expensive than filming some gameplay. The character seems to have changed, maybe only in looks. In the new screenhots he looks differant. I think it be attempt to be gritty but it will fail, probally because it is an open-world game and do not get connected or involved with the character outside missions. The combat will be a bit like Naughty bear, you are able to use the enviroment to damage enemies, as well as your fists, and feet, because it obviously has martial arts. It will be realeased in August.

The graphics for the PS2 version were insanely realistic, especially when it was raining. When you walked in puddles the water would "dent", like it does in GTA4.

I also remember that if you looked at a distant road or intersection you would see low-poly cars moving along, although they would fade away as soon as you got closer (or zoomed in further with a sniper scope). I don't recall seeing this implemented in any other game except for Saints Row 2. I was always surprised that there wasn't a public outcry in response to how violent this game was - you can slice someone's arm or leg off and beat them to death with it. You could even use a rocket launcher or grenade on someone and watch them literally be blown to pieces (you could even see their eyeballs flying through the air).
