Star Wars Fanatic 2006-09-18 22:41 | After Driver was released this was a sore disappointment. Awful framerates and an onfoot mechanic that just did not work left us with a sluggish game that paled in comparison to the original. |
Donington 2006-09-22 14:58 | Actually I really enjoyed this game. The freedom to choose any car around you was cool. The best car was the Austin Mini Rose in Havana. It was a secret car with a V8 engine!![]() |
poncho sd 2006-09-23 22:35 | Hell yeh - I remember that mini - stored in a big underground bunker. I loved the Chicago part of this game, as they got the feel of a late seventies/early eighties action thriller just right. It has the same cold, depressing feeling of some of the films that I love, and the Firebird/Camaro look-a-like and the secret Buick GSX suited the city perfectly. This part of the game is similar to the 1978 film The Driver (though set in LA), but was more acurately similar to a Chuck Norris film called Code of Silence (1985) in which there was a car chase between a tatty 1975 Firebird and a Cadillac limo in Chicago; even the background music is nearly identical. -- Last edit: 2006-09-23 22:35:53 |
Youlikeyams? 2007-02-17 14:47 | Pulling a wheelie in the Mini was the best bit of the game. ![]() |
Red Grant 2007-12-07 01:19 | This brings back good memories |
Neon 2008-09-21 17:00 | Which is the hidden car in Rio? |
macco_ov_ealing 2008-09-21 18:13 | the International Harvester Fleetstar i remember there was a switch at the top-right of the map near where the road looks like it goes up and down |
takumi 2009-01-18 12:17 | on voit beaucoup d'autre voiture dans les cinématiques a chicago et la havane, pontiac trans-am, cadillac, zil truck etc etc... |
scoobydoo82 2009-01-19 01:55 | Why in the world does this have such shitty graphics compared to the original Driver? I bought this game when it came out and I was like "What The Fuck?" GameStop wouldnt even give me a full price for it back, I was pissed. |
VanMan629 2009-01-21 22:07 | Great News Everyone! It was confirmed in the 2006 Tokyo Game Show that there will be a new Driver game which will be set for the PS3! They haven't actually told us the name of the coming game though. |
Antti-san 2009-04-26 17:18 | This game was such a disappointment for me after playing the original Driver. Terrible framerate, poor graphics and frustrating missions. ![]() |
1973 2009-04-26 22:31 | Driv3r was inferior compared to Driver 2, yes i know you have guns there but the aiming is terrible, and the most dumbest thing is that Tanner can't Punch people, instead he only can attack with weapons . -- Last edit: 2009-04-26 22:32:57 |
|30r1$001 2009-07-09 05:05 | Definitely the best of the Driver series, with the 1st one in second, 3 in 3rd( heh) and DPL in last(CRAP!) |
vwvanman 2009-12-27 13:21 | amazing game. i like driving on water in rio ![]() |
jdub462 2010-02-26 03:23 | this game is a classic. who cares about good graphics |
2010-02-26 17:54 | I agree with BixNood and jdub462. I remember playing this game as a kid with my father, Absolutely excellent game. Very difficult though. |
GlennHGSD 2010-03-13 19:43 | of course they're bad, the game was made in 2000! |
tanavin 2010-03-23 17:09 | Reply to Star Wars Fanatic, If it's the Driving you enjoyed from the first game, and this contains just that, then why do the on-foot mechanics concern you at all? Besides, the on foot wasn't made to play around with (1.), it was made to simply switch cars or press a switch or two here and there(2.), that's all. But still, why should the on foot concern? |
Star Wars Fanatic 2010-03-23 19:56 | Indeed, but they made a big thing about it at the time. I just felt that Driver 2 lost its focus a bit and had some serious performance issues compared to the original. |
Black Bart 2010-03-23 20:11 | Driver 2 is a fun and good game, but I can never beat it. ![]() |
2010-03-23 22:08 | Being quite honest, I never beat it either ![]() |
tanavin 2010-03-25 16:28 | Yeah, the on-foot did get carried away, especially with Driv3r & Parallel Lines. But Driv3r is where it had the most trouble with the on-foot. I'm just glad Driver 2 didn't go as far as Driv3r, then it would have been even worse, especially seeing as how it's for Psx. |
1973 2010-04-16 00:28 | talking about the on foot system. Did you knew that Tanner actully could walk and run instead of only running, this option was cut from the final realease . |
the wheelman 2010-07-15 17:46 | Driver 2 is still one of my favorite games. I don't care about the graphics. |
Takumi 2010-07-15 18:10 | Same opinion, Driver 2 was fabulous for all even if her graphics are'nt good! -- Last edit: 2010-07-15 18:12:03 |
Star Wars Fanatic 2010-08-17 21:48 | Part 2 of my Driver retrospective is now online: gamerlimit.com/2010/08/retrospective-driver-2-the-wheelman-is-back/ |
zarich319 2010-11-28 20:08 | driver 2 is true but because the 70 out of 80 cars and trucks in 2000 is like driver parallel lines if you take a car and 2006 in 78 as the paramedic will always go out in 78 Reflections Interactive did not think much This |
Takumi 2011-01-25 16:14 | I refinished the game last night ![]() |
108092 2011-01-26 19:50 | i like this game! damage in the game when we got into a police car shows he immediately offenses |
stryder237 2011-04-25 17:48 | relly good game. The on foot was good because you good switch cars. Large cities and a all four cities were differant. The game also had lots of cars and missions. |
matt__jon 2011-05-19 00:59 | I still wish they'd release this on pc, but I think it would be uber cool if they include at least the first two games as bonus features on Driver San Francisco. They could get this baby running at 60fps, let the cars go faster than 80mph, and give us options for traffic density and draw distance. Of course, old mode would be cool too for the purists. Same goes for Driver 1. Don't modify the graphics or music, or sound effects. Also a cheat code for all cars in all cities would be awesome. I could go on. I wouldn't even mind playing Driv3r with a higher top speed and more traffic. |
leggomyeggo 2011-12-22 16:52 | I beat it once, then I formatted my memory card on accident; so I used a GameShark to finish the game a second time (Press L1+R1+L2+R2 To Complete Mission Cheat D00AA674 000F 800AA194 0001 D00AA674 000F 800AAA6C 0004) .-- Last edit: 2011-12-22 16:55:47 |
ItsaUserName 2012-03-21 20:04 | Does anyone else notice the CGI cutscenes seem to use the same graphics engine as Driv3r's actual gameplay graphics? |
lcpdcv 2012-03-21 20:50 | LOL, NO. D3's engine is based off Stuntman's engine-well-it is Stuntman's engine. And there's no such thing as a graphics engine. -- Last edit: 2012-03-21 20:51:27 |
ditha57 2012-09-10 15:29 | I beat it with my skill except the last one (when you have to chase Lenny's damaged helicopter, which I have to use cheat). Good game when you see Tanner's hand holding a weapon if you see the shadow. |
Gamer 2012-12-31 10:54 | I bought this game for my PSone. It´s pretty good. The only thing that bothers me is that the police will chase you even when you´re not doing anything. I have Driver 1, too, but it´s not so good because you can´t leave your car. |
R.E.D.64 2013-01-28 20:10 | Great game, but some of the stages were hard as all hell. I remember passing the bomb truck stage in Havana and the Gun Man stage in Rio on pure dumb luck. The last stage was pretty easy though, once you had the correct path memorized, all you had to do was dart through it as fast as possible and reach the end before the chopper, since the course never changed. |
Gamer 2013-01-28 20:17 | I´m screwed. My used PSone did´nt come with a Memory Card, so it won´t save my progress in Story mode. ![]() |
insanecow 2013-01-28 21:25 | PS1 memory cards are dirt cheap, just get one on amazon or something. |
ItsaUserName 2013-01-28 23:41 | Hell, they can be bought for mere pennies/cents in gaming shops now. Many companies manufactured these cards aswell. |
