Now this is a game I have been wanting to track down for quite some time - this is one of, if not the first PC game I ever played on my old IBM PC. Based on the official rally championship, this was designed as a rally simulator and was very impressive at the time with its detailed graphics, robust handling model and every rally course from the championship. At the time, this was most likely the definitive rally title, but sadly it was released after Sega Rally and before Colin Mcrae Rally, which means this has been mostly forgotten in the present day.

Coincidence or not this one was of the very first games i played on a PC too, i have a memory of me being astounded at the simple thing of when i braked the back break lights would turn on, i was simply surprised about that thing, i have had this memories until today, i just didnt know about the game name, its nice to know about it again :)

Great to see this game here! I didn't remember what was the name of this game anymore. In the game it was nice that the car slowly damaged and you had to change parts after every rally. I also remember Indonesia's (or was it Philippines?) over 30km long stage. Also while driving you could see your current stage position on the screen (over 200 drivers racing against you!).

Interesting that it wasn't just me that didn't remember the title but fondly remembers the game :)

I have this game (haven't played it in many years though), but my version was called "International Rally Championship": www.mobygames.com/game/windows/international-rally-championship

The game you mention is actually Tommi Mäkinen Rally. When I submitted it I actually remember recognising the music used in that game from Network Q Rally, but could not remember the name at the time. I believe there were also other versions of Network Q in consecutive years.

I'm looking at the CD case of that game now, and my version had different HUD graphics to that Tommi Makinen Rally game. By the way, shouldn't this game just be called "Rally Championship"?

The Tommi Makinen version was for the Playstation so there are probably differences between the PC version. This particular version of the game is listed elsewhere as Network Q RAC Rally Championship.

I think that same car with different livery isnt enough to list it separately :)
